FAQ

Questions investors ask us first.

Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Requirements can vary with your circumstances and sector, so please confirm your situation with us directly.

Can a foreigner own 100% of a Fiji company?

In most sectors, yes. Some activities are reserved or restricted for foreign investors or carry ownership caps. We check your planned business against these rules before you start.

Do I need to be in Fiji to set up a company?

No. Registration, tax registration, Reserve Bank approval and permits can be done while you're overseas. You'll usually need to attend the bank in person to open your business account.

Why does my company need a local director?

The Companies Act 2015 requires at least one director who ordinarily resides in Fiji. Holding an investor permit does not meet this requirement. If you don't have one, we can provide one.

Is there a minimum investment?

Yes. Foreign investors must bring a minimum amount into Fiji within three months of incorporation, and higher thresholds apply to some sectors. Our Investor Guide sets out the figures, and we can apply to the Minister for a waiver where it is justified.

What is a TIN and when do I need it?

A Tax Identification Number from FRCS. Your company needs one before it can invoice, register for VAT, employ staff, clear goods through Customs or lodge returns.

What is an investor permit?

A permit from Fiji Immigration allowing you to live in Fiji and run your investment. Applications are lodged online through ImmiHub, and can include your spouse and children.

Why do I need Reserve Bank approval?

Fiji has exchange controls. Approval for your foreign shareholding and investment funds makes it possible to send profits and capital back out later.

What is tax clearance?

Confirmation from FRCS that your tax affairs are up to date. Banks may ask for it before sending payments overseas.

How long does setup take?

Most registrations take a few working days each once we have complete documents. Investor permits take longer. Your proposal sets out the timeline for each stage. Timing is set by the authorities.

How much does it cost?

Each stage has a set fee, confirmed in writing before work begins. Our free Investor Guide & Fees sets out each step and its fee. Request it and we'll email it to you, or send us your plans for a written quote.
